Face Paint for Halloween?

HALLOWEEN IS NEAR!

Halloween is quickly approaching and I'm sure some of you might be reaching for the face paint. This is all and well, however you may want to take some precautions. The ingredients in some of the "Novelty makeup" you might find in your local department store or costume shop may be toxic. Be sure to do your research to make sure it's a good fit for you. And please, for the love of your skin, wash it off after your spooky festivities.

Color Additives

Most color additives are toxic or at the very least cause minor skin reactions. They are known to cause inflammation and irritation in the skin. Color additives are slowly being done away with the in world of beauty and for good reason. For your spooktacular costume this year, try to go with a mineral based makeup when possible. If you must use the greasy face paints to make this year memorable be sure to wear ONLY for the duration of the festivities and wash off immediately when you get home.

Comedogenic properties

Pore-clogging properties. Novelty Makeup is very greasy and "cakey" and can do some serious damage to your skin, especially if you already have problematic skin. The makeup will clog your pores and stick there. After washing and a good nights sleep give yourself a mini facial with a deep cleansing scrub followed by your favorite hydrating moisturizer.

fillers

Non-beneficial ingredients. Pretty much all the ingredients in this type of makeup are "filler" ingredients. They do not contain anything that is beneficial to your skins health and literally just packs in to your pores and stays there.

What is your Halloween Costume this year? I'd love to see all the wonderful costumes!
